Upgraded from 7.2.6 [which does not have runaway logging]tower-diagnostics-20260514-1148.zip

 

LOG is now getting flooded with:

hid-generic 0003:051D:0003.0001: Event data for report 18 was too short (4 vs 2)

It is adding this entry 9-10 times every minute

under Tools/System Devices I see:

Bus 001 Device 002 Port 1-11 ID 051d:0003 American Power Conversion UPS

Diagnostics attached

 

Any suggestions to suppress this?

Try disabling the stock UPS service and using the NUT plugin instead; there appears to be an issue with the newer kernel and a few APC models.

Does this plugin send a shutdown signal to my VMs and DOCKERs too?

If not, do I need to install ‘NUT Actions’ by ‘ich777’?

 

The following appears to have stopped the runaway logging:

I disable the built-in UPS service (apcupsd) in Unraid by:

·       Settings tab

·       UPS Settings (under User Preferences).

·       Change Start APC UPS daemon to No

·       Click Apply.

 

 

I added the ‘Network UPS Tools (NUT) for Unraid’ by ‘desertwitch’

·       Apps Tab

·       Network UPS tools (install)

·       Settings Tab

·       NUT Settings

·       Change Start Network UPS Tools Services to YES

·       Change Shutdown Mode to Battery Level

·       Change Battery Level to initiate shutdown to 20

·       Change Battery Replacement Notification to YES

·       Change UserName: private

·       Change Password: private

·       Click Apply

 

I then shutdown, then powered on Unraid.

Yes, it starts a normal shutdown like the other one.
