I really appreciate if someone can help and support me to fix the issues i'm facing

I have upgraded recently to Unraid 7.3.0 from 7.2.6.

1. After the upgrade, i encountered WEB GUI and SSH freeze and had to do unclean shutdown.

2. After that most of my containers started to crash and some are reporting database corruptions.

3. Reinstalled my apps from Previous Apps.

Just now, Docker daemon crashed and not starting tried to start it manually but failed.

i'm seeing in syslog some red highlighted related to CPU, segfault and Plex

Things i have done and tried before:

1. Recreate docker image.

2. Formatted the cache pool from btrfs to xfs ( i have single NVMe) and recreating docker image again as docker-xfs.

3. memtest86, all 4 test passed

4. CPU is not overclocked or undervolted.

5. XMP is disabled

6. BOIS is updated

7. Restored most of the corrupted containers from backup before the upgrade.

8. i'm suspecting the cache drive have issue due to the unclean shutdowns after the upgrade but i have not replaced it to test.

Also, is it possible to downgrade to 7.2.6 ?

I see an i5 13600K, this would be my main suspect, lots of users with this and similar CPUs have stability issues due to the Intel 13/14 gen issues; some users are on the 3rd and 4th CPUs.

Thanks for your reply, i was actually using this cpu since July 2024, never had any issues and the server would be running for months.

Can it be related to the Kernel upgrade when i upgraded to 7.3.0?

Also, if i wanted to downgrade to 7.2.5 or 7.2.6, is it possible?

Would be very surprised, considering there are multiple unrelated apps crashing, but you can try downgrading and retesting.

I have downgraded Unraid to 7.2.6.

After 24 hours the server is stable, i will monitor it for 1-3 days and close/mark the topic as solved.

I didn't see any syslog errors until just now, a few segfault "error 6 in libc-2.31.so", below are the logs;

Check if there are multiple apps still segfaulting, if yes, that's not normal

I am having a similar issue. After upgrading to 7.3.0, my docker service keeps crashing. I need to manually restart the service and everything is find again until the next day. App Backup may be causing something, but not sure.

The only thing changed on the system is upgrading to 7.3.0 two days ago.

UPDATE:

I modified some settings in the bios after above segfault errors

1. Disabled CPU C state.

2. Lowered my RAMs frequency one step.

3. Recreated my docker image again.

4. Installed my apps.

After that the server is up for ~4 days, i didn't see any segfault errors, no containers crashing and no DB corruptions.

I'll probably stay on 7.2.6 for a while.

Since this thread is still active, and to avoid confusion, please start a new one and post the diagnostics.

Until now my server is up for 10 days with no issues.

What i have done:

i'll mark it as solved and stay on 7.2.6 for a while.

This looks extremely similar to the issues that I have been having with my server since updating to 7.3.1. I even tried downgrading to 7.3.0 and the issues remain. I've been down a similar rabbit hole as you testing RAM, updating MOBO BIOS, recreating Docker images, and nothing seems to be working - I am still seeing frequent kernel panic errors and having general server instability.

@m3sl thank you for providing a summary of what fixed the issue for you. Could you let me know if you have had any additional issues since your reply on June 2nd?

I moved to internal boot so unfortunately downgrading isn't super straightforward for me, but seems like I might have to figure out a way to get off of 7.3.0.

@uncut-commodity4118 No issues after i downgraded to v7.2.6.

I was on internal boot as well in 7.3.0 and i downgraded from Tools > Downgrade OS and kept my USB plugged in before downgrading.

I was surprised that my USB was not backlisted and booted just fine.

I would suspect the change in stability were more caused by the other changes than the downgrade, but you can try reupgrading in the near future while leaving everything else intact
