Array won't start. Cache pool busted.

Featured Replies

So I think I've worked myself into an unrecoverable state.

I wanted to remove a disk from the cache pool and use it for internal boot.

According to the docs I had to balance the pool. So I started the process selecting convert to raid1 via the GUI and then I kinda forgot that it was running in the background and started to build a docker image which crashed my server due to OOM.

Rebooting the server had the array start but in read only state. I copied over all the files from the cache pool to the disk array (I used a command to mount the drives of the array as rw. Same command didn't work for the cache pool.) then started reading forum post. I've tried like 10 different things but nothing has worked and I think I made it worse.

Now I can't start my Array even though the webGUI says config is valid.

I'm fine loosing all data on my pool. How can I start my array?

Someone over on the discord noticed an issue with super.dat but wasn't comfortable suggesting any solutions.

According to the diags a new config was done. What error do you see when trying to start the array?

I can't start the array. The UI says I have a valid config. When I press the button nothing happens.

Reboot and try again, if it still fails, post new diags right after trying to start it.

Decided to nuke the whole thing.

Copied the data over to another pc. Then reinstalled Unraid and copied it back.
