Optane boot drive power consumption

Featured Replies

Finally migrated my boot to an Intel Optane drive (MEMPEK1W016GA)

Unraid shows it at a constant 4.5W power draw which is much higher than I expected to see. My other two NVME drives (both 970 Evo Plus) idle at .01W so I was expecting something more like that.

What is everyone else seeing?

Note that those values are what devices themselves report for each power state, and may be an approximation; I've seen older NVMes reporting similar values, but possibly Optane may require a little more power in standby.

I have a couple of 16GB 2242s I've used for various things (not unraid boot) and yeah they're always hot.

Ok. To JorgeB's reply, I think the approximation is pretty close. I got it plugged into a killawat meter and the math looks right. My expectations may have been off and I feel a bit better with this info. Thanks for the reply.
