      I am trying to preclear a disk before putting it into the array however i am getting the follow error:

 

Sorry, but /dev/sdd is already assigned as part of the unRAID array.

Clearing will NOT be performed

 

        How can i stop the device from being part of the array for pre_clearing?

do not assign it to the array.  (or, if assigned, un-assign it)

Can this be done on the command line? As i havent added it on the GUI.

If you haven't added it, then you may be pointing to the wrong device. Did you run a "preclear_disk.sh -l"?
