Software on Windows 10 VM "Sorry, this application cannot run under a virtual machine"

Featured Replies

I know this isn't exactly an unraid specific question, but some of yall are straight up wizards.

But I've set up a windows 10 VM via unraid, and when I'm attempting to run a specific software, i'm greeted with a

"Sorry, this application cannot run under a virtual machine"

Now I understand its probably an anti-piracy measure, but I'm wondering if there is anything that I may be able to change in my vm set up to possibly get around this?

( the software I use is a 3d rendering/modeling software called Agisoft Metashape, and would LOVE to be able to run this on my server rather than my main PC )

I know its a long shot, and I may just be better off biting the bullet and building a secondary machine, but running a VM cost me nothing compared to spending out the butt for current PC part prices.

Search for tricks used to make games think they're not in a VM.

There will always be a risk the software's developer can detect those anyway, maybe consider it trying to actively violate your license, void all your licenses/access etc...

Obviously their goal is to get you to pay for their cloud services if you don't want to run on a workstation.
