[Solved] I changed the root password and now locked out?

Featured Replies

I changed the root password since I could not get into one of my shares.

Now I am locked out. I have switch off the power supplies. Then, temporarily put the flash drive in your PC, and then delete the "config/passwd" file.

Used - User: root / Pass: blank

I have started it up again and I still cannot get in?

Do I have to start from scratch again?

Is there a way to keep my shares unharmed?

Thank you,

Jim

Thank you for your help. Worked great.

  • 1 year later...

I did not see this thread until it was too late.

I did not forget my password, but being totally new to unRaid and Linux in any form, I did not know that "$" was not allowed.

I added a password for UN root and added a new UN as well.

Both passwords had "$" in them ....  :(

Hard to redo my entire parity-synch again ... with 3 x 3 TB drives, I am going to be waiting another good 12+ hours  :'(

Oh the agony ....
