Sytem crashing after years of rock solid running

Featured Replies

I have had unraid run rock solid for years. but recently it has started to just lock up for no reason. I've been running syslog server and I have attached it the first crash looks like June 1st Jun 1 20:53:47 SageTV monitor_nchan: Stop running nchan processes nothing shows till I restarted the server with a hard reboot. The next crash happened June 6th and it looks like it happened here Jun 6 20:27:30 SageTV emhttpd: read SMART /dev/sdf because the next line is Jun 6 21:28:34 SageTV rc.rsyslogd: Syslog server daemon... Started. after I was forced to do a hard reboot again. I did try to ssh into the server but it would not allow it,

I have attached the syslog and a diagnostic to help. The crashes seem to random not sure what to do next. thank you for any help.

Unfortunately, there's nothing relevant logged, this can also be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.

I have ad guard home running as a docker with macvlan, would a kernel panic crash not leave a trace in the logs. I haven't had time to change it to ipvlan to see of that would help. It is strange that it can run for a month or more no problems then crash twice in one day then nothing again for a while.

Thank You for replying.

Macvlan is no longer an issue since 6.12.11, kernel panics should always show in the syslog.
