June 19Jun 19 I have upgraded to 7.3.1 and converted to booting from SSD and while it works fine normally lately the server has kind of crashed a couple times now. the GUI becomes unresponsive and it seems the networking DNS name resolution seems to be somewhat affected and after rebooting everything works fine for many days. This just happened this morning and the GUI was responding but slow and while everything can still be accessed i found the VM tab was not responding at all so i generated a diagnostic and attached it as well. Externally from what I can tell during the issue the SMB shares and dockers were operational from my workstation but could not ping one of my VM's. any help is appreciated. ThanksJames nas-diagnostics-20260619-0730.zip
June 19Jun 19 Community Expert I'm not seeing any issues logged, but it looks like the syslog is missing stuff, since it ends with Jun 19 07:35:07 NAS kernel: If it happesn again, confirm the syslog has the last lines, if not try tailing it.
June 19Jun 19 Interestingly, I've had this exact same symptom happen twice recently. I am on 7.3.1. The GUI, the console, and ssh all become unresponsive. Only a hard reboot works.I'll try to capture and share my syslog if it happens again. Edited June 19Jun 19 by RandoUser

June 19Jun 19 I've been suffering the same issue too. Always seems to happen in the middle of the night. I can SSH in for a while but eventually that locks up too and I have to power cycle
June 19Jun 19 I am also suffering from this issue as well. My server has been unable to go more than 3 days without this issue happening. I have to manually reboot the system (holding the power button to shut it off) for it to become responsive. Obviously, I'll continue to cancel a Parity Check because of this. I've looked at the syslog-previous because I'm trying to diagnose this and it just looks like it abruptly ends. I've tried inputting this into Gemini, which also says the same thing. The GUI is unreachable from another PC on the network. I can ping my servers IP address from my gaming PC, but trying to SSH into it, I get a connection refusal. I have a Windows 11 VM running on it. In the VM, I've seen it once where Unraid turns on all disks that are not on and then it starts the process of shutting down the array. It never seemed to get there completely as eventually, my VMs just die. My server never reboots. It just stays powered on and completely unusable.I was considering downgrading back to 7.2.0 that I came from. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I'm on an AMD Epyc Platform.Motherboard: Supermicro H12SSL-NT, BIOS 3.6CPU: Epyc 7452RAM: Samsung ECC RDIMM 3200PCIe ACS Override is set to Both, as well as disabling the following features for trying to troubleshoot: USB Autosuspend, NVMe Deep Power States, PCIe ASPM, and PCIe Port PMContainers running: Immich via Docker Compose Plus, two instances of Handbrake, Emby, JellyFin, Plex, Tautulli, VM_Custom_icons (these have not changed from when I was on 7.2.0, which I was not experiencing this issue). If you require anything of me, let me know. I can provide it. I have a Diagnostics Zip if that helps. Edited June 19Jun 19 by omegajvn
June 20Jun 20 Community Expert Please start your own threads, enable the syslog server and post that and the diags after it happens, though the symptoms are similar, there may be different causes, and it gets complicated trying to support multiple users in the same thread.
June 21Jun 21 Author It happened again this morning starting at 1am and from what I can tell there is 2 cpu's pegged at 100% and no DNS resolving of any kind works. also my first VM is off which happens to be my main DNS server (Domain Controller) and in Unraid it is set to use this server as the primary but i have 2 others listed but it also seems that Unraid does not roll over to them. so looking at the scheduled tasks that start at 1am it my vmbackup plugin but i never had issues until upgrading to 7.3.1. I would roll back but since i have setup the boot from SSD not sure how much this complicates matters. attached is the syslog and diagnostics. nas-diagnostics-20260621-0649.zip syslog-192.168.200.10.log
June 22Jun 22 Community Expert Don't see anything relevant logged. If you want to try donwgrading you just need to copy the current config from /boot/config to the flash drive and boot from there.
Monday at 06:07 PM1 day Author Ok I think i found my issue, it seems the VMbackup app using snapshots was causing the issue. Before upgrading this worked fine using snapshots to backup the VM's but I guess their looks to be some issues with the new 7.3.1 Unraid and snapshots. Once I disabled the snapshot type backup I have not had any issues in a couple weeks now.
10 hours ago10 hr What’s your current uptime? Previously, how long would your uptime be vs after your finding? Is this an Unraid feature or one installed from the store? I have snapshots for my VMs but no dedicated app
