June 21, 201214 yr I've recently got my whole rig running, (unraid 5.04) after reading the forum's and following guide's I wanted to move stuff from ntfs to the unraid format, so I skipped using a parity drive untill I shifted everthing over for speed reason's, I filled a 3tb, 1tb and a 1.5tb drive with data and left it running over night as the misses wanted to watch her tv... the current current config is sda - 3tb - unraid - DISK 1 sdb - 1tb cache sdc - 1tb unraid - DISK 2 sdd - 1.5tb unraid - DISK 3 hda - 1.5tb unraid - DISK 4 I have a 3tb drive on the way to fit into the parity slot as soon as possible However, i've noticed that - SDC ( 1tb seagate ) work's fine, until it spins down - then I cant get it to start back up again with out a full shutdown and restart of the rig - ive tried altering power management, updated the fw etc but it's giving me no joy so far, i've cleared all the data of it onto one of the other drive's - is there anyway I can safely remove this from the array with out breaking anything or loosing any of my data?
June 22, 201214 yr If I read you correctly and you have no parity protection, there is nothing to break. Just remove it from the assigned slot and set a new configuration.
June 22, 201214 yr Author Thank's - id read about the command "initconfig" but was unsure if it would wipe my data I've now successfully removed the offending drive
June 22, 201214 yr Hey ren, how did your drive swap go? Everything back up and running? If all is well would you mind renaming this topic so it has (Solved) in front of it for ease of tracking. Thanks mate.
