Problem upgrading from 7.2.6 to 7.3.x

I been trying to upgrade my R730, not XD, to 7.3.x and being having no luck. 7.2.6 runs fine, that is what I'm running now. tried:

  • Upgrade from GUI

  • Created a new USB with 7.3.0 and 7.3.1

No matter the way I do it stops with an IPMI error and reboots, while the 7.2.6 works fine. Trying the modprobe.blacklist=ipmi_si (suggested by AI 🙈) does not resolve the issue.

Any help is much appreciated.

Try booting with a different flash drive using a stock install, no key needed, just to see if it boots.

Done this with 3 different USB drives with both 7.2.6 and 7.3.x and as with the original USB drive, 7.2.6 booths fine but 7.3.x don't.

If a different flash drive using a stock install still does' boot, it suggests some incompatibility between the newer kernel and the hardware. My suggestion would be to remain on 7.2.x for now and retest once a release with a newer kernel is out.

Thanks, I guess I will do that.

So this is what I had to change on the server to get it working:

System BIOS → Processor Settings

XZAPIC Mode → Enabled

System BIOS → Integrated Devices

SR-IOV Global Enable → Enabled

I/OAT DMA Engine → Enabled
