Please Help - I upgraded to 7.3.2 from 7.2.4 tonight - Can not access server via browser or local

Featured Replies

In somewhat of a panic mode and not sure what to attempt next.

UPDATE: as of 7/9 - I am booting, but getting an error (see below in follow up response). Also, safe mode asks me to finish setting up what looks like a new server build.

I upgraded to 7.3.2 tonight from 7.2.4.

  1. After I started the upgrade, I got the system reboot timer on the screen. This is usually no more then 2 minutes. But after 20-25 minutes, I just tried to access the server over the browser. No Luck

  2. I manually rebooted the server. Still not luck accessing over browser

  3. Checked my router. Now really nervous. Server not showing on my client list.

  4. Attached Monitor and Keyboard. Rebooted multiple times using both HDMI and Display port.

  5. Tried both the 3050 Graphics Card and the graphics card directly on the MB.

  6. I never saw anything on the screen. Yes, I bounced around the monitor menus to make sure I was on the correct port each time.

  7. Each time I rebooted, I checked the monitor lights (beeps like crazy and flashes red led if issue on board)

At this point - I don't know what to try next. Server not showing on the router AND can not get anything on the monitor.

Note: I remember when I built the server a year or so ago, I had a hard time getting to a boot menu as well.

APPRECIATE any guidance. If this was my Windows Desktop, I know the things I would try to do. I'm still relatively new to UNRAID. Really hoping you guys can point me to a simple software fix. Early Christmas gift

P.S. Worst case. is the data on the drives at least most likely safe. Like a Dumb A@@, my last remote backup is 6 months old.

If you don't see anything on the screen, i.e., the server is not posting, it's not an Unraid problem.

I can get to CMOS.

Worst case. Is there any way to get the data off the drives. I don't mind a complete rebuild as long as I can recover the data on the drives.

Can you boot anything else such as memtest86 from another flash?

Is the MB an older one? If it is, I would suggest replacing the CMOS battery.

A Little Good News - I was finally able to get into the boot menu and booted into GUI safe mode.

When I logged into the server from my browser, it acted like it was a new 7.3.2 install. Wanted me to finish setup. I've never booted into this mode, so I don't know if this is normal.

Any suggested next steps?

If you mean the onboarding wizard, you can just close it.

Since I have the monitor working now, I am able to see the log as it boots. The attached screen shot is where it hangs. From my research, it sounds like my USB thumb drive may have failed.

Only reason I wonder if that is correct is that it was working until I upgraded.

Any way to back out the upgrade?

Okay... MORE good news.

Switched to a different USB port, and I appear to be back up.

Now in a MONITOR mode. Fingers crossed.

Could have been the port, but make sure you have a current backup; if it happens again on a different port, it's best to replace the flash drive.
