What is needed for a working sleep function?

Featured Replies

The title says it all. What hardware is needed to get a good working sleep-function on my server. What should I look for on the motherboard(BIOS) and other parts. My aim is that the server goes to sleep after 30-60 minutes of inactivity and wakes up when I start to play a movie on my mediaplayer (Dune) or other access from the network or when the mover kicks in to move data of the cache disk to the other disks. The mover probably won't start when the server is asleep, so maybe it's an option to move date before the server goes to sleep.

Interested to know the answer to this myself.

Also when the server wakes from sleep, can all drives stay powered down until accessed?
