Friday at 03:41 PM4 days In a pickle. Found a few old drives and tried adding them to my unraid setup. One drive is a ST3000DM001-9YN166 shucked from an external drive that I'm trying to use as a secondary parity drive.Whenever I attempt to add it to the secondary parity slot and start the array I get an error and disk disable.SMART extended report ran without issues. I tried swapping the drive to a different drive's slot on the backplane. That drive continued to work, this one still has the error. I tried using a SATA to USB adapter and the drive works then, parity sync starts without issue. Also seems to clear without issue when I add it as an array drive - only seem to have an issue with parity.Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks!Unraid v7.3.2Drive is connected to a backplane in a Jonsbo N4. SATA data is via a LSI 9207-8i and a SAS to SATA breakout cable. Friday at 05:37 PM4 days Community Expert Solution It's not logged as a disk problem, but if swapping slots didn't help, but using an external USB adapter did, it suggests some issues between that drive and the LSI controller. Can you try using an onboard SATA port?

Can you try using an onboard SATA port?On-board SATA port worked. Tried direct SATA power and breakout bypassing the backplane in case there was something weird there but no dice. Only onboard SATA seems to have done the trick. Why the LSI card won't work with this specific drive remains to be seen.Thanks for the suggestion though, glad to have it up and running.
