Can someone provide a resource on how to do a test restore (recovery testing) of an UNRAID server, without having to purchase a full license?

for example,. can I do a test recovery of my existing licensed unraid server on the 30 day trial version? any pitfalls.

You can use a trial.

You can with the exception that you cannot carry over an existing configuration to a trial. Booting from a trial really is only good for testing hardware failures as you would have to re-assing your disks in the proper slots which requires you to know ahead of time which disks are data and which are parity because if you guess wrong, you can lose data.

Honestly having a backup of your boot drive and then restoring said backup to a new boot USB is the best way to recover from a boot drive failure.
