[Plugin] UGREEN DXP4800 Pro LEDs

Featured Replies

UGREEN DXP4800 Pro LEDs lets Unraid control the front LEDs of the UGREEN DXP4800 Pro: Power, LAN and the four drive bays.

Unraid has no native support for these LEDs, so I put this together for my own NAS and it grew from there. It builds on the LED driver and scripts from flybrys and ich777.

It is not an official UGREEN plugin.

What it does
  • Power LED on while the server runs, blinking during shutdown

  • LAN LED blinks with traffic and turns orange when the connectivity check fails (HTTPS, gateway ping or link only)

  • Drive LEDs pulse with disk activity and "breathe" when a drive is spun down

  • Slow orange blink on a SMART failure or when a drive disappears

  • Identify button: flashes one bay for 30 seconds, handy before pulling a drive

  • Colours and brightness per LED group, with a preview on a picture of the front panel

  • The settings page shows the current state of the monitor, the LAN LED and each bay

SMART checks run with -n standby, so the plugin never wakes sleeping drives.

Requirements
  • UGREEN DXP4800 Pro. Other UGREEN models are not supported.

  • Unraid 7.3.2, 7.3.3 or 7.3.4

The LED kernel module is bundled for each supported Unraid kernel and the installer picks the matching one. A new Unraid release with a new kernel needs a plugin update; until then the plugin shows a notification instead of loading the wrong driver.

Tested on

My own DXP4800 Pro with four drives, currently on Unraid 7.3.4.

Install

Remove any other LED plugin or script and reboot first.

Then search for "UGREEN DXP4800 Pro LEDs" in Apps.

Settings are under Settings > LED Settings.

Reporting problems

Post here or open an issue on GitHub. Please include your Unraid version, the plugin version and the output of:

/usr/local/sbin/ugreen-pro-leds status

tail -n 60 /var/log/ugreen-pro-leds.log
