June 29, 201214 yr I have Serviio installed but I can't see or access any of my files on my Unraid 5.0 server? Is this a unraid server setup issue or Serviio setup issue. I can see the folders on my server but can't see the files. What do I need to do to see the files so I can stream them to my Xbox 360 and Asus TF300t tablet?
June 29, 201214 yr Serviio is sorta an odd bird...did you (1.) Add your devices (shares)? (2.) REBOOT YOUR SERVER? (Controlled stop, clean shutdown, restart - give Serviio a few to come up. It isn't enough to stop/restart Serviio! ) See if that helps. Best of luck. Serviio is easier to setup if you have an android phone or tablet using Serviidroid.
July 1, 201214 yr Snowman, did that work? When I initially setup Serviio, nothing happened. In frustration, I rebooted the whole server and started Serviio and VOILA! Here is some content! I could magically see my shares and files. I have additional issues with Serviio, but really haven't had time to work through them. Maybe a real Serviio dude can straighten us out - I am researching the problems. I am using Serviio on my Single core server - it works fine for SD content. For some reason, it has a very hard time with MKVs that contain subtitles, (which have a high WAF in my home!) especially when streaming to the PS3. It works when streaming to my Android Skyrocket II phone. It works without subs on my XBOX 360s. Oddly enough, .MP4s (MP4v) work ok on EITHER game console. I know the MKVs work, I've been playing them for more than a month over the network on my Patriot Box Office device - more than a year from the device's internal drive. The Serviio developer is a JAVA programmer, so he uses inheritance to define device profiles/settings...this approach is not that intuitive to me. I understand that the limitations may be firmly on the playback platform and not his fault, but many folks report that MKVs work fine on PS3 with PS3 Media Server. PS3MS uses Mencoder to render and works best from a windows server, due to the availability of codecs for Windows OSes. Those "perfect" codecs are problematic for me to ferret out - especially since my Linux skills are laughable. I may just try to setup and run PS3MS next...but I like the ServiiDroid software approach to configuration...it is always something, isn't it? Just my .02
September 10, 201213 yr Bumping this to the top - I got Plex to work, but I can't get Serviio to show the files - BUT the folders are there.... WHAT gives??
September 10, 201213 yr What does your log file say? More than likely ffmpeg is not installed. Run the ffmpeg command on it's own. If you get command not found that's the reason for your mkv's not showing up. I posted about this in the serviio plugin thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19791.msg198947
