May 28, 200818 yr Would be nice feature to add MHDDFS support to web ui. Ie possibility to add/unionfs mounted samba directory from another unraid box so that it would show as one big one. I've already tested this in command line and it seems to work nicely. It's fuse based open source multi hdd fs, pretty much similar to the closed sourced one that unraid uses, but it lacking high-water concept, instead is having freespacelimit + most free options and supports combining real hdd's with samba/nfs mounts. Ofcourse this is fuse over fuse overhead, but still it would be nice imho, since at least for media players it is nice to only have only one mountpoint which to browse.
May 28, 200818 yr I see a conflict here. I suspect Tom will choose to internally provide such functionality than use someone else's.
June 28, 200818 yr In this post, Tom described how he was experimenting with just that exact feature. A single user-share spanning multiple unRAID servers. (see last line in last post in thread) http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=298.msg2127#msg2127
September 13, 200817 yr What about iSCSI initiator Unraid and target Unraid? You need to address the second UNRAID box as a slave ... the software needs to be adjusted i guess. (iSCSI integration like FREENAS) I think it's possible when the second box is just an extra logical volume to the first box. The question is offcourse .. is your parity drive big enough to cover both boxes ? You would need a big redundant drive to keep parity for UNRAID 1, UNRAID 2, UNRAID 3, etc. I think theoretical it's possible as long as the total volume of the UNRAID boxes doesn't exceed the total GB's of your parity drive and the drive speed is limited to less traffic, since the bus is now also used to communicate between the boxes. But yeah great idea if you want to build a mega-array, time for a UNRAID Enterprise edition ? LOL
