Dune Player Issue

Featured Replies

I have run into an interesting issue with my Dune Players;  Normally I use the Dune players by giving them an exact SMB path over TCP/IP to the .mkv file I wish them to play and that works perfectly. Something like "\\Tower\Movies\BlindSide\BlindSide.mkv".

If however I use the Dune supplied GUI interface and attempt to browse to the "Tower" with the SMB network browser, the Tower always shows as empty.  Under "Sources" in the Dune GUI I do have two shares showing one for "Movies" and one for "Concerts" and I can drive down using the standard Dune interface to any movie/concert and play it by telling the Dune to play the appropriate mkv file. The share for "TV Shows" is not showing. but I can play any TV episode by giving the dune the correct path over TCP/IP

I am running unRaid 5.0 RC5 with SimpleFeatures installed. There are no users registered and all my machines on the network can get to the unRaid Tower with no issue except one; and navigate to any item on the Tower.

The one issue I am having windows wise is that one of my Windows systems (all are Win 7) after a fresh boot requires me to enter the Userid/Password of the running user in order to access the Tower.  Once entered it is not needed again until that machine is rebooted.

Perhaps these two issues (Dune GUI and windows UID/Pswd) are related.  The last time all was working perfectly(that I know for sure) was when I was running unRaid 4.7. I guess I am going to have to backtrack. I hope I can do that with no issue.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I use a Dune player with my unraid RC5 too. Since I've created network shortcuts on the Dune home page I've never had an issue accessing shares or files at all. I do remember when I first got my Dune I did have random issues when "browsing" my shares using the GUI. It has been over year since then and a few firmware updates. Try making a couple network shortcuts.

Also at least for testing, disable all Windows firewalls. Also if you upgraded from 4.x, make sure you run the permissions fix.

Same here.  I have 3 shortcuts setup to Videos, Music and Photos.  No problem at all except some slow folder hopping if the disks were spun down.  I started using cache directories and that seems to have solved that issue

Are either of you gentlemen using SimpleFeatures?  I am trying to isolate what might be causing the problem. I can not create network shares since when I try and Browse the network all I get for the Tower (unRaid System) is that it is empty. All other computers are fully browsable. Two shares I created a while ago are there under sources and work Fine.

Any Thoughts?

I had the same issue with both Dune D1 and PCH-A210.  This happened after I upgraded to the newest unRAID beta.  I ran the permission script and made my server Master, and it fixed the issue after rebooting the server, router, switch, and media players.

I did as suggested (reboot router and server acting as the windows browse master) I had re run permissions and rebooted unRaid several times.  All Windows 7 machines now access the unRaid Tower without requiring a userID and password as they should. Thanks for the tip.  I assume something was cached someplace, but I am not sure what or where.

The unRaid problem still exists When doing a network browse everything shows up and can be accessed except for the unRaid Tower which appears as empty.

However there is always more than one way to skin a cat. Using a DSF you can save the network source configurations. You can then modify the saved file and reload it. I did that, adding the missing TV Shows share from the Tower.  Now Movies, Concerts and TV Shows all show up under the Source tab on the Dune player as I wanted.

Slightly O/T: Does any one know if there is a way to move through a sorted file list in the Dune GUI by entering a letter.  Page down works but I have 550+movies on my unRaid server and it can be tiresome to keep paging down to find the one I want.  Has anyone played with MyMovies for the Dune?

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

Use yadis or dfi instead of mymovies
