unRaid access problem

Featured Replies

Network Name is Tower

OS is unRaid 5.0 rc5 with Simple features

users: Default definition of root

shares: multiple all set up the same way for public access no password required

The network has multiple win 7 PC's. Each set up the same way with regard to userid and password. Except for one specific PC, opening the network allows one to see all the PC's and the Tower, and clicking on the Tower opens the tower and shows all of the shares.

On one particular PC, opening the network shows all the PC's and the Tower. However trying to open the Tower requires the entering of the Userid and Password of this particular PC (Which is the same as all the others).  This PC can then open the Tower until it is rebooted at which time the userid password is requested again.

I think this started when I was playing around with additional users but I removed them all and removed from the flash the folder that had the userid password info.  I can not figure out what the difference might be.  More a PIA then a real problem as I only reboot once per day.

The unRaid system has been rebooted several times This issue is probably related to the problem I am having with a Dune player not being able to browse the Tower (unRaid) but capable of pulling files from it when directed to do so over IP, or from some cached share entries.

Any advice assistance greatly appreciated.

Do the other PC's have a mapped drive to the unraid share?  You could try setting up a mapped drive and setting it always connect.  this asks for a username and password.  My thinking is once that is mapped (with the authentication) you will be able to browse the shares through the network again.

No, none of the PCs have mapped drives. I just can not figure out why it is happening and that is driving me nuts due to my "must understand" personality.  I am sure what you suggest will work, but the must understand thing  . . .  I will try and back things out, like Simple Features, and then revert to 4.7 to see what changes.

Very strange

Thanks for the reply

The issue is with the PC not your unRAID server. Changing the config etc on the server will be a waste of time.

You need to look at the setup on that one pc and figure out what is different about it that is preventing it from saving the credentials for the server.

Walnuthead,

I agree, I'm just at a loss to understand why it saves all other credentials except the one for the tower.
