July 11, 201213 yr Ok so i'm trying some tests with the sleep addon of simplefeatures. If i manually put the server in sleep with the simple features button on the main gui I CAN wake it up without problems from my main pc or from my htpc with xbmc and WOL addon. If i setup a sleep scheduling with simple features with only these configurations : Wait for array inactivity: Yes Extra delay after array inactivity (minutes): 75 Interval of network / device inactivity (minutes): 5 I CANNOT wake it up from my pc or from my htpc but only pressing the power button on the server. I tried to set Set WOL options before sleep: g and even ethtool -s eth0 wol g before and after the sleep but nothing,i cannot wake the server. What the hell is happening ?
August 6, 201213 yr I think you havn't got an answer because there are some important info's are missing. For example whick Mainboard and NIC you use. Also a Syslog would be useful. What software are you using when you try waking up your server? Do you use the correct IP and Mac?
August 8, 201213 yr i am messing myself last few days to put one server to sleep and had a similar issue please be sure to enable wake on lan in your bios on my asus p8h67 it was called power on pcie but most of the time it is called power on lan or something similar also be sure you have the right mac address.... i lost about30 minutes using the wrong mac address to wake up the server anyway of now to search for a solution to let sf sleep let the server sleep even if the cache drive is running but the rest of the array is down .... crashplan and plex keep my cache drive running and i don't see how to avoid that ....
August 8, 201213 yr anyway of now to search for a solution to let sf sleep let the server sleep even if the cache drive is running but the rest of the array is down .... crashplan and plex keep my cache drive running and i don't see how to avoid that .... Thats the point, please let me know when you have a solution. I will also do! Its not so cool that the server doesnt go to sleep. if i manually put him into sleep everything works. EDIT: Im now trying to set the array activity to NO and set the network activity to YES. I dont know if the server counts every bit wich is transfered over the ethernet card. i will inform you how its working. I have the experience that when my Plex Server is disabled in the unRAID settings. The server doesnt go to sleep and my cache drive is running all the time. dont know why. i have installed istats server and allmost all simpleFeatures plugins.
August 8, 201213 yr The part you are missing here is that s3 sleep and wol are very hardware-specific. Even mentioning hardware and posting a syslog isnt going to help unless someone else with your exact config was able to make it work. It is not a core unraid feature and it is not guaranteed to work by any means. In saying that, I hope you guys manage to sort your issues out, but this might help explain why you don't seem to be getting much assistance. Plenty of other posts on the boards explaining exactly this. Good luck!
August 9, 201213 yr HI BetaQuasi I searched all over the wiki and there is a lot of info on the s3 sleep script but not the one from the simple features and there are differences echo 3 >/proc/acpi/sleep for examle won't run on the simple features one... you get a non existing file error been busy now for a few days with this and i think i will keep it at this put a cron job to do 01:25 /sbin/swapoff -a -v 01:30 /sbin/powerdown on the server i want to shut down and a Task shedule task on my main machine to send a wol package to that server at 09:00 in the morning which is at least a 07:30 power save a day putting the thing to sleep was ok for short periods but all night i lost drives on my br10i which i only could get back by a powerdown and a power up (even a reboot wouldn't give me back the drives) so doing an automatic powerdown every night will at least save me some energy
