[SOLVED] security permissions

Featured Replies

hi there

i am using version 5 beta 14

i have been using unraid for about a year and the last few months whenever i transfer anything to the server

i have to run the new permissions utility

these are the permissions on my old files

Everyone

Users (unix group users)

nobody (tower\nobody)

but when i transfer anything it puts these permissions on

Everyone

users (unix group\root)

console+web gui logon account (tower\root)

i then have to run the new permissions util every time

any ideas what i am doing wrong

thank you

Regards

Unmount the drive from your client systems and be sure that when you mount it again, you don't use the "root" account.

If you don't have another user, create one and use that...then be sure that user has permissions to all your shares.

You're pc is probably cashing the credentials and that is making that it does not ask you for new ones.. Remount the drive with new credentials and it should be ok..

when you say remount the drive

do you mean map a new drive to a share

and then tick the box saying connect using different credentials ?

#

Yes. Or you can delete the existing credentials in Control Panels->Credential Manager.
