Ok ive been reading a lot about this problem but havent. Done anything about it yet.

Im using 4 wd20ears for 2 years now without a problem , but. I better should lookat it,  I know.

 

So, who can explain me step by step:

1) how i check the status of current hdd

2) use the widdle thing to prevent the problem on my wd20ears without having to put the drives outside my unraid system and without data loss

there are all sorts of instructions out here on checking your hard drive, so should be fairly easy to find.  Here is the post with where to get the wdidle and what to do.
