Why you ask!?

 

I am running virtual box on unraid and unfortunately a usb sound card does not work (very choppy audio) which is a known bug.

 

Is there anyway to enable it in unRAID so the vm can utilise it?

Yes, you'd need to create your own custom kernel and install ALL the various EXTRA sound applications. This is no minor feat for the linux novice.

I've often wondered if it would be easier and more universal to enable just enough support and drivers for external USB sound.  In that case it would be more generic and easier to support.

I am also interested in how to enable onboard sound. The only thing stopping me from installing Subsonic music streamer on Unraid is that I would lose the Jukebox Mode.
