Duplicate files being created?

Featured Replies

I have an issue where any folder\file that I create on my cache drive is then created as a share within unraid... and vice-versa.

Example:

I have a share called "TV".. If I create a folder within that share, the same thing is created on my cache drive. Anything inside that folder gets duplicated as well. If I delete one, the other is deleted as well.

The same goes for the opposite when creating a folder on the share drive a new share is created on the unRAID page with an orange circle..

Any ideas? Been using unraid for years, never had this issue.

Ok - I am assuming this has something to do with the mover...

Yep.. disabled cache drive, and it went away. Thanks.

What you are explaining seems normal to me. You understand what the cache drive does, correct? Maybe i'm misunderstanding.

It's not duplicating the files, anything on the cache drive can be seen in the array even before the cache drive moves it over. Anything created on the array, is going to be created on the cache drive first.  So if you create a folder in your array, it's going to be created on the cache drive instead, but you can still see it in both places. It's not a duplicate file, think of it as a shortcut until the cache mover sends it over.

That orange ball is also normal, it says you have data on the cache drive that has yet to be moved over.

you are not describing a bug, you are describing the feature of the cache drive. It is how it is supposed to work.

There is no issue to fix, nor are there duplicate files being created.

Yes, I now understand that - hence my edit. But thank you anyways.
