WDIDLE3 - No drives detected

Featured Replies

I'm trying to run WDIDLE3 to set the idle timer higher on my new green hard drives to avoid excessive LLC counts. It worked fine in my old server, this one detects no drives even though unRAID does. It has a Supermicro X9SCM motherboard and 3x SAS2LP-MV8 cards in it.

I've tried:

IDE Mode - Legacy/Native

AHCI Mode

PCI OpROM - Disabled/Enabled

Out of ideas other than putting these drives one by one into another system. Any ideas?

Thanks.

WDIDLE didn't work for me on my controller card, I had to use the motherboard's sata ports.  If your sata ports aren't detected you'll have to use another system unfortunately.

That's bad news. My cases are SAS, so to hook them up to the motherboard i'll need to use a SAS breakout cable (which I don't have), I'll also need to do this 12 times because all my new drives are scatter throughout 2 system (12 SAS ports, 48 drives, 6 SAS cards).

I really hope I don't need to borrow a SAS breakout cable and run WDIDLE 12 times. :(

I guess you could hook them up to a normal PC (I always have a motherboard kicking around for testing).  You can WDIDLE as many drives as you have sata ports at the same time (from my personal experience at least).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
