July 18, 201213 yr I have been with brighthouse trying to get ports open such as 8080-8180 and nothing seems to work. All I can get is 8081-8084 open. They says it is open but when i do a port scan it shows it closed. is there a way in the linux console to open a port. i tried forwarding the ports in the router but it still does not work.
July 19, 201213 yr Type "netstat -lpn" in the terminal and see if there is something that is using that port.
July 20, 201213 yr Author It ended up being a problem with subsonic. For some reason subsonic-4.6-noarch-1.1aj.plg was blocking ports after install and would not allow a port to be opened for it. I uninstalled and installed subsonic-4.6-3.0jj.plg and it worked great.
