Hi All,

Ed here  - unRAID noob from NZ - where we unfortunately have a more limited range of HW to choose from - so I really need your advice as to whether this build will work with unRAID.

I have come up with a proposed build after discussions with a local store as follows:

cpu: Intel Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge 3.30GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115077

mb: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Z77 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

ram: Mushkin Blackline FrostByte 991995 4GB Dimm DDR3-1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226190

hdd: Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB SATA3 (x4) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148844

case: NZXT H2 Classic Silent Mid Tower Chassis Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146072

psu: Seasonic S12II 620W 80Plus Bronze Power Supply 1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096

My main concern is the mb as I am not sure if unRAID supports it?

I would also welcome any suggestions / comments you may have re other aspects of this proposed build.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards

Ed

Id consider spending the extra $50 on the supermicro x9scm-f board. Lots if us use it so you know its supported. And has many more useful features (more pcie slots, ipmi for remote management,  etc)

If the price gap is only $50 in NZ I'd say the same...but it could be a lot more dear for special boards like that.

I think someone was testing the Extreme6 board, might want to search the forum for that...obviously a different board but should give you some idea of how that "series" of boards does in general...and major issues.

+1

Especially IPMI is a great feature. Just get a good and compatible power supply for the X9SCM. Saves a lot of trouble but is really worth it.

If you are from NZ the situation might be different though.

Seasonic PSUs are OK.

thanks for the replies so far - unfortunately still no definitive answer re the proposed mb despite a fair bit of searching both here and elsewhere.....hopefully someone who knows for sure will be able to advise

as for the supermicro mb - not sure if they are sold here as it isn't listed for sale anywhere ....grrr...

q: what's the chances if i just push "go" - blind leap and all that - that it just won't work with unraid?
