bar1
Hi everyone, I decided not to use Samba with my new set up. I have an UNRAID box and a raspberry PI running XBMC. I enabled NFS on the shares and now i have 2 problems. 1) XBMC immediately see the NFS , which is great.however, it sees the IP address, i am running DHCP and i need it to detect the hostname 2) I seems to have a problem with share with a space, for example TV shows, is only being seen by XBMC as TV and i am unable to browse the files I checked /etc/exports on unraid and all seems correct. Any advice? Quote Link to comment
p1lot
Use fixed ip Avoid whitespaces for sharenames Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2 Quote Link to comment
bar1
yes, i guess i could do that...any other solutions? Don't really want to rename all my shares. Quote Link to comment
BetaQuasi
Check here re spaces in share names: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15094.0 Re: IP addressing, NFS inherently uses IP's rather than hostnames. If you really want spaces and hostnames, why not just use SMB? Quote Link to comment
bar1
Will i get better performance from NFS? or not necessary ? it just make sense (to me anyway) that if the 2 machines are linux...i should use NFS Quote Link to comment
BetaQuasi
Not necessarily - the latest smb implementation is really quite quick. I'm not sure you'd notice any great difference in performance, especially considering all it seems you'll be doing is streaming media from unRaid to the XBMC-RPi Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
NFS should give the best performance. Try both ways and do a test, Quote Link to comment
