So I read the steps to follow to replace a drive here.

I noticed that is says to backup 'config/super.dat' and 'config/disk.cfg' but that it never says to restore them.  I'm assuming this is only an "in case of emergency" step but how would I know that I need to restore either of these files?

They are needed to replace the original disk if the rebuild fails.

Here's a follow on question:  how do I know when the rebuild is complete and that all of the data has been written to the new drive?

 

It's important because I have a second disk to replace right away (I'm moving from 1tb drives to 2tb drives).
