June 16, 200818 yr Currently using 4.2.1 without any problems (also used previous versions without problems). Tried to upgrade to 4.3 by copying files needed to flash drive (tried directly by plugging USB dirve into windows PC and also by using share (flash) on unRAID but it only gets as far as loading 5 3/4 lines of dots on bootup and then it just stops. Tried download 4.3 again on seperate PC just in case of corruption in download and it still does not work. Not had a problem in upgrading before and copying 4.2.1 files back onto USB drives makes everything work again so no problem with USB Drive. Any ideas please ?
June 16, 200818 yr Some problems like yours are described in the wiki under "USB Boot Issues" on this page: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Best_of_the_Forums Possible fixes are described here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1676.msg11412#msg11412 But specifically this post might be the answer: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1176.msg15666#msg15666 Joe L.
June 20, 200818 yr I had the same problem, the new syslinux did the trick for me. At this point I'm convinced it's the rootfs image or syslinux itself. After about an hour of rolling my own initrd image with no progress, I decided to check if there's a newer syslinux at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/. I grabbed syslinux-3.63.zip pulled out syslinux.exe, ran syslinux -ma d: on my 4.3 stick. SUCCESS!
June 23, 200818 yr Author OK thanks guys. I will give that a try. I bought 2 Lexar firefly USB drives but one of them has died for no reason (that I can tell) so it means I only have my live one to play with which is a bit worrying !
June 24, 200818 yr Author OK i took the risk on my live USB Drive with running the newer Syslinux and it worked a treat ! Oh and a side effect .... instead of taking 5 mins + to boot it now takes about 2 mins (dont know if that the new version of unRAID or the new syslinux ?). Thanks again.

Worked perfectly using the new syslinux. Maybe the download for syslinux in Step 2 can be updated with the new version? I'm sure this will help other unRAID users. At any rate, you guys made my day! Thank you!
June 30, 200818 yr Tom has updated the syslinux to the latest, on the Downloads page, syslinux 3.63.zip containing syslinux.exe.
