August 3, 201213 yr Hey Guys, Got a cache drive up and running and like it alot so far. Just adjusting to the differences and changing some of the ways I do things. I noticed that sickbeards post processing seems to spin up the drives which defeats the purpose of the cache drive for me. I think it happens when it deletes the folder that it downloaded the file in (even though it should be on the cache right?). Anyways just wondering is there any sickbeard settings I need to set so taht processing can happen in the cache and then move the file afterwords? If not then I will just set it to download to the cache drive only and move it over myself. Thanks alot. here is the end of the sickbeard processing that i think is causing the spin up Destination folder for this episode: /mnt/user/TV/Suits/Season 02 Moving file from /mnt/disk2/TV/Suits.S02E07.720p.WEB.DL.DD5.1.H-264/Suits.S02E07.Sucker.Punch.720p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-CtrlHD.mkv to /mnt/user/TV/Suits/Season 02/Suits.-.s02e07.-.Sucker.Punch.-.720p.WEB-DL.mkv Deleting folder /mnt/disk2/TV/Suits.S02E07.720p.WEB.DL.DD5.1.H-264 Processing succeeded for /mnt/disk2/TV/Suits.S02E07.720p.WEB.DL.DD5.1.H-264/Suits.S02E07.Sucker.Punch.720p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-CtrlHD.mkv
August 3, 201213 yr Why is the file under the TV show folder prior to post-process? Is that where it is downloaded to? by sab or torrent client? Make sure you set it so that the original download is saved on the cache drive (sab saves it under mnt/cache/.sabnzbd/complete/ for me) So that when sickbeard processes it, it just moves it from the cache drive to the tv show folder on the array (if you set it correctly, it will go into the tv show folder on the cache drive first, then moved over to array by the mover) The cache drive gets bypassed and changes occur directly on the array (and parity) when files are deleted or modified. EDIT: Btw, your file was already on the array drive (disk2) not the cache drive. How did it get there? and why does sickbeard search the array drive share rather than the user share? I think you need to reconfigure your sickbeard settings.
August 3, 201213 yr Author thanks alot aptalca - very helpful. I am using Sabnzbd to do my downloading and I had the category of tv set to use the script sabToSickBeard.py which it does successfully but I had the folder set to "mnt/user/Tv". I realise I was downloading it to the raid all along now and not to "/mnt/cache/.sabnzbd/complete" which I have just changed it to. I got a new hard drive for my raid and i added it to the TV share for the future but I wanted to fill the original disk for now so I changed it from the user share to the disk share and then realised it wasnt the best way to do things so I just changed it back- that must of been before I did. Thanks very much edit: sorted, thanks alot I forgot that sickbeard already knew where all my tv shows were and I didnt have to tell it (which is what i thought I was doing in the sabnzbd category part, ha). everything should be good now, thanks Aptalca
August 4, 201213 yr Just to clear up a few things.. Its fine to have folder set to /mnt/user/TV, unraid will still use the cache drive, sickbeard will just pick it up and move it into the season folder, deleting the download folder. Having it set to /mnt/cache/.sabnzbd/complete is just a cleaner way of doing it. Your problem came in by setting the download destination to /mnt/disk2/. Doing that does in fact bypass the cache function. In order to make use of the cache function, you must point the destination to a /mnt/user/ location. unRAID will manage which disk things get saved to when using /mnt/user/, if you use /mnt/disk#/ you are specifying the disk you want to use, bypassing the user share
August 4, 201213 yr Author Thanks Influencer, I guessed that may of been the problem since the cache drive creates new folders with the share names and I think it was the reason I changed it from disk2/tv to user/tv. I am fully clear now and really liking the improvements since I went to the cache drive. Thanks.
August 4, 201213 yr glad it worked out. my sab/couch/sickb config is working like a charm (knock on wood) interaction on my part is very minimal for the movies, I set up the rss feed of hdrip section on rlslog.net ( http://www.rlslog.net/category/movies/hdrip/feed/ ) in google reader. evry few days, I check it for the new releases. The listings have imdb links and I use the couchpotato plugin (or mediamonkey on android) to send the movies direct from imdb to sab queue. It couldn't be any easier.
August 5, 201213 yr Author The only reason I dont use couch potato etc is I like to read the comments incase there may be a problem with the sync or ppl might point out a flaw. I also try to get the best quality to file size ratio (if there is such a thing) so i would download a 720p at 5gb over a 720p at 8gb if there was no obvious difference. Althought I might take a look at your recommendation - I like the sound of that too Thanks for the help guys
