i have spare drives.

there was a parity check running for days and was only at 17% so I stopped it.

1) I will shut down the machine.

2) I will locate the drive in the sever and remove it

3) insert new drive in same slot

4) then what?

thanks

Then just start the array.

You might have to check the box under "Start" to enable it, it will say something about re-constructing onto the replacement drive.

DO NOT FORMAT THE REPLACEMENT DRIVE  (although it is OK to preclear it if you have the time, as that will burn it in.  It is NOT necessary to use a per-cleared drive, just they are less likely to die in the first few hours of use).

DO NOT SET A NEW DISK CONFIGURATION.

Just press "Start"
