Supermicro drive cage power light issue with Hitachi Deskstar 2TB drive

Featured Replies

I have a Supermicro drive cage (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=30786&vpn=CSE-M35T-1B&manufacture=SuperMicro) and I recently purchased a Hitachi 2TB Deskstar  in the retail box from Fry's in Portland for $99 while I was visiting the states. Everything works fine with unraid (the drive was detected, it cleared and formatted no problems). The problem is the power light on the drive cage does not work - only the activity light works. It is a drive problem and not a slot or light problem with the cage (I swapped slots with other drives and the lights came on instantly).

Any ideas?

There is no power light.  There is one over-temp light and one fan-failure light.  Each drive has an activity light and a failure light.  Says so right in the product description in the link you provided.

I have three of these and I've never seen a "power" light turn on.  The cage lights have icons for temperature and fan.  The drive lights have icons for hard drive (activity) and hard drive with an X over it (failure).

Haha, then the activity light is on all the time in my other two drives!

They are both Seagate 2TB ST2000DM001-9YN1

Thanks for the response.
