New build won't start

Hello unRaid members.  I've been reading this forum for several weeks and just registered and posting as I am having issues with my new build even booting.  I'm using many parts from Johnm's Atlas Build  and others builds.

I have the following installed:

SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCM-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C204 Micro ATX Intel Xeon E3 Server Motherboard

1 x Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core Server Processor BX80637E31240V2

My problem is I get my system motherboard, memory, processor/heatsink, and power supply connected (24 pin and 8 pin) and I turn the switch on.  I get the IPMI heartbeat and I can connect over IPMI.  I press the power button, or through IPMI tell it to turn on and I get one very short beep, then I get a pause of maybe 10-15 seconds and then 4 longer beeps.  (I wouldn't say very long but longer than a normal short power on beep).  According to AMI Post Beep Codes 4 beeps would mean:

System timer failure - The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory

I think my problem is my motherboard does not have the 2.0 BIOS version needed to boot the Ivy Bridge.  I do not have another 1155 processor around and I am kicking myself for either not buying a $40 Celeron 1155 to boot with or just buy a Sandy Bridge.  I have contacted SuperMicro and they are willing to cross-ship me another board with BIOS 2.0 but I won't get it until Tuesday.  I would have to pay to ship my motherboard back (so maybe $10 for Fedex).

Other things I've tried.  I've tried 1 UDIMM at a time in the First Slot and get the same result.  I've also tried it without memory and get the same result.  I've tried it without a CPU and I don't get any beeps.

My question is, for you guys that buy this SuperMicro X9SCM-F motherboard what are the symptoms of a not-valid BIOS for the Ivy Bridge processor?  Just trying to build my confidence that the BIOS version is the cause.

Thanks,

Brad Retzlaff

So to provide some feedback if anybody runs into the same issue.  My problem was fixed by SuperMicro sending me a board with updated BIOS.

The symptom was 4 beeps and a blank screen.
