How to "redistribute" files on a running server

After my server has been running for a few months I like to rearrange things (user-shares, folders and more). How would you "redistribute" files on a running server obeying the new rules set by allocation method, split level and included/excluded disks?

get confirmation before proceeding, but I believe you could move data manually to the cache drive and let the mover script do the heavy lifting.

 

i.e.

 

mv /mnt/disk1/movies/* /mnt/cache/movies/

 

you just need to ensure you have a large cache disk.

If its a lot of data then use MC from console and do it manually... After that run the permissions utility ..

What he said.  I do this all the time to move my files around on my disks (I.E. disk1 to disk15, etc...).
