hothwampa
Hello, I am in the process demoing the free version of unRAID with the hopes of converting my entire RAID over to unRAID. Currently I am using a headless ubuntu server running a software RAID 5. I have put together a small unRAID system using a computer that I had free and an RSV-S8. What I want to do is setup the RSV-S8 system to unraid, copy everything to it and then initialize my ubuntu raid as unRAID and copy everything back. Then add the RSV-S8 to the once ubuntu system combining both storage pools into one unRAID system. Originally the RSV-S8 came with a Rosewill esata card with a silicon image chip, I am not sure which one. As reported after a while, randomly, it wold kick out drives. I had 4 drives connected to slots 1-4 (bottom to top) and only using 1 esta port. After a day or two only one drive would be online and I couldn't get the other drives to come back online. I had the same problem when using it with the ubuntu server to create a second software raid5. After reading some reports on this forum I purchased the RocketRaid 622 to replace the SiL card that came with the device. The 622 is not working at all. When the system boots only one drive is detected (one light comes on), which my understanding is normal, the SiL card did that too. Then when unRAID loads no lights are on and no drives are detected. I ran the script found in this thread and then when the system fully booted one light is on but unRAID still sees no drives on the web GUI. I have read a number of threads on this forum but I am not sure if anyone is using the RSV-S8 with success with unRAID. I really need to get the device to work to make it possible for me to go this route. I have read about changing the rocket raid bios but you can see here there is no non-raid bios for the 622. Is anyone using the RSV-S8 with success? If so what card are you using with it? Tonight I am going to erase my unRAID USB and start from scratch, but I would appreciate any advice anyone has. I am probably short on logs and specs, if any of that is needed please let me know. The unRAID computer is a i3-2125 using a ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT. Thanks, hoth Link to comment
PeterB
I ran the script found in this thread and then when the system fully booted one light is on but unRAID still sees no drives on the web GUI. Are you running the script by an entry in your go script, before emhttp is started? Post your syslog for scrutiny. Link to comment
hothwampa
Before I just ran it. I added it to the go script and now I can see it trying to read from the drives for a bit, the light goes on and off, but then it stops and there is no lights or drives detected. syslog is attached. syslog.txt Link to comment
