I could have sworn I read a post a while ago... how long has 5.0 been in beta? A year?

 

Anyway... after scanning pages of posts and searching for "upgrade" and "install", I can't find the (simple, if I recall correctly) process for rolling my USB key install forward and backward between 4.7 and 5.0.

 

Anyone point me to the right steps?

 

Something like:

- here's how / what to copy / backup on the key

- here's what to overwrite to move forward

- here's what to put back (and how?) to move back

Backup the entire contents of your Flash device before upgrading. If something goes wrong or a major problem is uncovered in the release this will make it easier for you to downgrade.

As far as I know, when coming from 4.7 the two files needed to upgrade/downgrade are bzimage & bzroot

 

NO!  Those are the two files which are normally required to move between minor releases within a major release.  Moving from 4.7 to 5.0 is more involved.

Restore those 2 files and the entire config directory to downgrade.

Perhaps a simple version of this should be "sticky" on each beta / RC group? or just in the intro post. Just sayin'...
