HELP PLEASE - ip Issues

Featured Replies

My inetaddr is constantly 192.168.45.11.  My DHCP range is 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.100 Subnet 255.255.255.0.  All other computers on network get proper ips.  Setting the network config file only temporarily mounts the server for minutes at a time. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

My box is useless without your help.

Do you have two routers? Did you get an new modem from your ISP that might contain a router you do not know about, if so it needs to be turned off.

This looks like the same problem that was responded to from an earlier post by you entitled IP Woes.  Call your ISP and tell them to turn off the router in your modem.  Do not listen to some low level tech who claims the modem does not have a router. Ask for some body higher up in the knowledge chain.

I bridged the new modem and my iso confirms this.  Any other suggestions?  Even when I reserve an ip it comes up the same.

Your network.cfg is automatically regenerated by the Network Settings under the Settings tab of the WebGUI. What happens when you set the Network Setting to a static IP under the Settings page?

Obtain IP address automatically: 	No
IP address:  192.168.0.9
Network mask: 	255.255.255.0
Gateway: 	192.168.0.1
Obtain DNS server address automatically: No
DNS server 1: 	8.8.8.8
DNS server 2: 	208.67.222.222
DNS server 3:   208.67.220.220

In my above example I use the IP address of 192.168.0.9 since it is not inside your DHCP range.

You mention that when you change the network.cfg the settings do not stay changed. If you can view the webgui during this time, you may be able to make the changes there which should stick.

# Generated settings:
USE_DHCP="no"
IPADDR="192.168.0.9"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
GATEWAY="192.168.0.1"
DHCP_KEEPRESOLV="no"
DNS_SERVER1="8.8.8.8"
