[RESOLVED] How to verify my cache drive is working

Featured Replies

I’ve just installed an SSD cache drive (unraid 4.7) and I’m pretty sure it’s not working – how can one verify ?

It appears correctly in my Main page, and I’ve set all the user shares to use the drive (under “shares”)

Two things lead me to believe it is not working:

1) When I look at the mnt/cache directory, I find no files present after transfer (from Mac HD to User Share), and when I hunt around the disk drives e.g. mnt/disk2, eventually I find the file.  I understood it should be on the cache drive until the mover kicks in at 3:40am

2) I’m on a Mac so transfer rate is not visible in the dialogue box, but when I use a stop watch and note the MBs written, there appears to be no speed improvement.

Attached is my syslog.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

Have you rebooted after making the cache drive assignment and designating the shares to use the cache?

No, I have not.  I will do so now and let you know if that changes things.

thanks, Jonathanm. The reboot solved it.  I don't recall reading anywhere that a reboot was required, but that did the trick.
