2 Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001-9YN166 different sizes in unmenu

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I was wondering why 2 Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001-9YN166 drives show different sizes in unmenu, image is attached.

I'm runnig v5.0-rc6-r8168-test2 (Experimental fix/test for mpt2sas controllers (LSI)).

But the geometry is identical.

root@Tower:~# hdparm -g /dev/sdc

/dev/sdc:

geometry      = 364801/255/63, sectors = 5860533168, start = 0

root@Tower:~# hdparm -g /dev/sds

/dev/sds:

geometry      = 364801/255/63, sectors = 5860533168, start = 0

Thanks.

What does it say when you hover over the + ?

HPA usually causes a change in reported size

There is no HPA, the drives are identical as per hdparm utility:

root@Tower:~# hdparm -N /dev/sdc

/dev/sdc:

max sectors  = 5860533168/5860533168, HPA is disabled

root@Tower:~# hdparm -N /dev/sdv

/dev/sdv:

max sectors  = 5860533168/5860533168, HPA is disabled

Smart information shows similar sizes for both drives.
