June 28, 200818 yr Hi, could somebody point me to some post/faq ? I have 8 drives...now 7 data one parity... I started like most people using the free version up to 3 drives...which makes my drive number 3 on my onboard controller my parity drive.. How can I move that drive to my addon controller port 4 ? can I just swap the drives ? madmax...
June 28, 200818 yr Stop the array, Record the existing drive serial numbers and their respective slots. Power down, re-do the cabling as you described. If unRAID can not figure it out, it will not start. If it does not start, go to the devices page and assign your physical disks to the desired logical slots. Then, go to the main page and start it back up. Do not add new disks at the same time as moving one. (Just to keep from complicating your life) Do not proceed if it thinks a drive is "unformatted" Do not check a checkbox to allow it to format a disk. Do not use the "restore" button. (It does not restore anything, but simply stores a new disg config based on the currently assigned and working drives.) All you should need to do is press the "Start" button. Joe L.
