unRAID Web Interface stops responding and does not load

Featured Replies

I'm running version 5.0-rc6-r8168-test with 6 plugins (SABNZBD, CouchPotato, Sickbeard, SNAP, OpenSSH, SimplFeatures).

I have 200MB free memory and I've attached my syslog.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 14.0.1.

I even experience this after a fresh reboot . I open Firefox and I try to open the web interface and it just hangs. I just can't get it to load. All my plugin sites load and they all work fine. I had 400MB free memory and CPU was idling.

But what really gets to me is if I open the web interface with Charles Web Proxy (http://www.charlesproxy.com/download/) running in the background, it loads instantly and the interface is fast and responsive and all links load without issue! As soon as I disable Charles Proxy it and click on any of the options in the interface it hangs and will not load!

Seriously anyone know whats going on here? If you experience the same issue please try with Charles running in the background.

Thanks!

In Firefox, without your proxy, how are you trying to access your unRAID server (what are you typing in the address bar)?

If you are using http://tower try using the IP address instead.

I have a bookmark that points to http://Tower. But yeah every now and then if I change the hostname to an IP it will load after a few refreshes, even while the hostname is hanging. I do have a host file entry point the IP to tower..

If you can always access the server using a proxy, it is something on your PC. I thought it might not know how to translate the name to the IP address, but if you have a host entry that should take care of that.

What other customizations are on your PC? What Firefox addons do you have?

Well it's not a proxy in the true sense of the word. Charles listens on 127.0.0.1:8888 and redirects your traffic through it, so the traffic is all still local. I can drop my internet connection and still connect to my NAS with Charles open.

But you have a good point about the addons. Maybe it's one of them causing an issue. I will start Firefox in safe mode and try enable them one by one :)

clear your browser history and cache.

clear your browser history and cache.

Done that many times. Even tried excluding unraid site from keeping cache and storing offline data, didn't help.

Also lainie how can it be a plugin issue if with the very same browser with the same plugins enabled work fine when Charles is open? I have a friend who is experiencing exactly the same issue, although he's given up trying to fix it.

I am not sure what Charles is bypassing (having not used it before, though I have used various proxies). The browser seemed like the first thing to check as you could have something in the browser that blocks things it thinks as bad (think NoScript, though I use NoScript & have no problems... just trying to point out that some addons block things). Charles could either bypass an addon or cause information to be presented to an addon differently causing the addon to not recognize something the same way.

It could be an Internet setting instead of the browser (though a browser addon seems more likely). Or some program running on the computer instead of in the browser.

On another note, have you checked that your computer & unRAID server are set to the same workgroup?

Believe it or not, this bullshit still happens. I've just updated to the latest RC: unRAID Server 5.0-rc16c AiO

It's only WebGUI that has issues, CP/SAB/SB/MySQL all open first time, everytime! Don't understand how I'm the only one  :'(

EDIT:

Just updated SimplFeatures and now it loads instantly!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

EDIT 2:

Ok I spoke to soon, still happening. I've deleted simplefeatures webgui, will update on how it works later this week.

EDIT 3:

Yip it appears with Simple Features gone, the webgui does not hang or fail to load! Guess I'll be going without simple features from now one.
