Shares have disappeared -- adding manually shows blank

Featured Replies

Ok, not sure if the recent activity is the root cause, or not -- but for completeness, I added two new 3TB drives and re-added a Cache drive {had forgotten it when I was moving drives around in a new 4x3 cage}

I have no shares now.  I manually added, for testing, a "DVDs" and a "Chuck" share -- they also show up blank, with no data in them.

I can, however, do a "dir \\unraid\disk1\Chuck" (etc) and SEE that my data is there.... <whew>

If I add, manually, a "share" by the right name -- example "Chuck" -- it still is blank (did not exclude any drives).  So just re-building the share entries dosen't seem to fix the problem.

Should I start by removing the two new drives and cache drive?  {and initconfig}

Or what should I look for/at

Attached is Syslog from clean boot - and then the syslog for after "starting" the array and trying to manually create the "Chuck" share.

Not sure if it's helpful in this case,  but looking at an old thread about 4.x (circa 2008)-- asked for a few commands to be run.

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2237.msg17013#msg17013

ls -lR /mnt/user

(Note -- it only shows my 2 shares I manually created, and with little data in them - Chuck is completely blank)

ls -lR /mnt/user
/mnt/user:
total 0
drwxrwx--- 2 nobody users 0 Sep  3 10:46 Chuck/
drwxr-xr-x 3 root   root  0 Sep  3 10:22 DVDs/

/mnt/user/Chuck:
total 0

/mnt/user/DVDs:
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Sep  3 10:22 sabnzbd/

/mnt/user/DVDs/sabnzbd:
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody users 0 Sep  3 10:22 complete/
drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody users 0 Sep  3 10:22 incomplete/

/mnt/user/DVDs/sabnzbd/complete:

I'd bet it's the cache drive. Try unassigning it and restarting the array.

If there is nothing on the cache drive that you need, I'd preclear it and reassign it _if_ unassigning it fixes the problem.

Permissions are wrong. Run "newperms /mnt/user/DVDs"

Permissions are wrong. Run "newperms /mnt/user/DVDs"

Thanks, did that on both the DVDs folder and Chuck folder namespaces.

No change.  (Except the ls -lR shows - "drwxrwx--- 3 nobody users 0 Sep  3 10:22 DVDs/ }

Eg, shares still missing all files.

Will consider pulling the Cache drive if no other suggestions / checks given here....  am being conservative.
