kbowman
I got my first red dot and think my disk is failing. I ran a SMART report but don't really know how to read it. I attached it here and re-seated the sata and power cables. What should my next step be? smart.txt Quote Link to comment
vca
There don't seem to be any issues in the SMART report. The key lines to look at are: 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 200 200 140 Pre-fail Always - 0 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0032 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 198 Offline_Uncorrectable 0x0030 200 200 000 Old_age Offline - 0 199 UDMA_CRC_Error_Count 0x0032 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 so I would say the drive is fine, the next likely cause is a faulty connector. Try reseating (or replacing) the SATA cable and the power supply cable to the problem drive. Are you using a power splitting cable (these can be a problem)? Regards, Stephen Quote Link to comment
kbowman
I just replaced the sata cable and changed the power supply cable. The red dot is still there. Do I have to reconstruct the drive or is there another way to fix it? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Joe L.
You must reconstruct it. Remember, one or more writes to it failed. Quote Link to comment
