4.3.x and Vista's Symbolic Links w/ Shares

Featured Replies

Hey,

not a big issue for me or anything, but just something i noticed w/ the new 4.3 update

I have multiple vista machines setup and use DVDLibrary and Music Library on all of them.  To make it easier to organize the xml data for my movies, i've store all my XML Files on a share on my server and then create a symbolic link on all my vista machines to point to that location.

Before the 4.3 update, i could edit the directory thru a share (for example \\tower\DVDs\DVDInfoCache) and it would be reflected on all vista machines that have a link pointing to that directory.

But now, if i make changes in the share (for example adding a new xml file or editing an existing one), it is ONLY reflected in the share, and my vista machines still show the old information, but the share itself shows the correct information.  Just to be sure, i rebooted the server and my vista machines, but still the share itself showed correct/updated info, but if i navigated thru vista's symbolic link, all old information was shown.

If i want the changes to be shown on all machines, i now have to go to the disk itself (for example \\tower\disk1\DVDs\DVDInfoCache) and all the vista machines will show the changes i've made.

Thanks

looks like a bug

an update on this, unraid seemed to be splitting the folders across another disk, even tho i have split level set at 0.  When it did that vista media center was unable to pick up the added xml files, since i have my symbolic link pointing directly to the disk and not the user share....
