4 Red Balls at one time

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have got 1 red ball after another out of nowhere.  Now I have a total of 4.  I guess it must be coming from the re booting of the server multiple times.

I know I need to get some disk drives. (I have a few on order).

Right now I want to get the server to list all 4 of these drives as unassigned so it can come up and I can still use it.

How do I clear them out and get them listed as unassigned?

version: 5.0-beta12

Is this a good time to upgrade the version?

syslog attached.

Odds are VERY high the disks are fine but the power to them, or a common disk controller is the issue, or back-plane.

Do you see the disks in the BIOS?  Post a syslog.

Be VERY careful here though... if you are not, the drives will be CLEARED (written entirely with zeros) by unraid.

You can un-assign all the failed drives, and then set a new disk configuration, but if you then try to re-assign them to an existing array they will be cleared UNLESS you set a new disk configuration immediately before adding them each in turn.

Syslog is attached.

Yes they all show up in the Bios.

I'm fine with the drives being cleared.  I have backups on USB external drives.

How do I do this?
