September 11, 201213 yr Hello all, I've been getting a lot of help from you guys already, now I could use a bit of help again, picking the correct case. I do not plan to build another server again for several years hopefully. I'm currently going back and forth between a tower with 12 external 3.5" and filling it with hot-swap cages or a 4U rack case with hot-swap cages. Tower, almost certain I'd be picking a LianLi A77B since I love that make. 4U, I am currently looking at 3 different cases, the Norco's I can't find in EU that will ship to Denmark. But I found 3 similar cases: http://www.xcase.co.uk/24-bay-Hotswap-rackmount-chassis-norco-RPC-4224-p/case-xcase-rm424.htm http://www.xcase.co.uk/x-case-home-server-box-p/case-homeserver24.htm http://www.inter-tech.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=632%3Aipc-4u-4324l&catid=121%3Astorage-gehaeuse&Itemid=553〈=en The 2 from xcase cost the same, but one is not as deep as the other, I think for my basement the short one would be perfect. The case from inter-tech looks similar, and is cheaper but I don't understand German language LianLi and adding the cages will cost about the same as an xcase 4U, so it's not so much the price I'm worried about, also noise is not an issue currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
September 12, 201213 yr Author I just noticed the x-case home server box (24 bays short version) is on deal of the day 60£ cheaper than usually, hard to resist.. could anyone come up with any reason not to buy this?

It would depend on the motherboard you have or are getting. some of the larger server boards or larger raid cards might not fit.
September 13, 201213 yr As I understand it, X-case is just Norco rebranded for the European market. It looks like they may be swapping out the drive trays for something different (red instead of blue), but otherwise those cases look identical.
September 15, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the input both of you I opted to buy it, 60£ is quite a bit off considering my budget, I'll be using a supermicro atx board which should fit fine. I also noticed x-case use 120 mm fans in the middle and not 80 mm fans, thats just another plus in my book. It should arrive sometime next week, it'll be some time before the rest of the components come together though, I might post pictures when it's all done and ready
