What does this LED on M1015 mean?

Featured Replies

I have three M1015's and I noticed that only one of them has this green LED on and it's on steady all the time.  It doesn't blink or flash.  I never see the LED light up on either of the my other two cards.  Does anyone know what it means?  This is the best pic I could get:

Can't really tell you what that LED is but it doesn't appear to light up at all on my M1015s.  If it does light up it is only at boot and only briefly.  I have other LEDs that do light up on the card.  The one labeled  CR1 in your graphic near the edge of the card flashes at a constant rate on mine when system is idling.  The ones above the heat sink (CR2 - CR9) light up when each disk connected is accessed and at boot up it looks like to me.

Is that light on the card that caused you boot problems such that you turned off the OPROM's in the MB bios?

Yah I'm familiar with the other lights. All three of mine have the constantly flashing CR1 light also.  The fault on MPT BIOS fault on boot up doesn't appear to be related to one of the cards.  I've tried all three of the cards by themselves and the fault doesn't appear.  I only get it when all three cards are installed.

OK.  Whatever that LED is may be the problem with 3 M1015s not working on your X9SCM.  The test ESXi server I setup with 3 cards in it has what I described above.  The same LED on my 3 M1015s does not light up.

It could be I suppose, but like I said, all three run fine in bare metal unRAID.  Even with the OPROM enabled and getting the BIOS error on boot.  I'm running it like that right now without problems.  This is just the screwiest set of circumstances I've ever seen.

Breaking in on this thread I have a similar question.

I have a M1015 in my server. When the server is booted but idling I see a LED flashing continuously. I think it is CR1. It looks like a hearbeat, similar to the IPMI heartbeat on my X9SCM-F. Looks like normal.

This morning I plugged in a 2nd M1015 but it didn't show up in unraid. Upon further investigation I didn't see a flashing "heartbeat" LED on the 2nd M1015, but I noticed a steady lit green LED closer to the heatsink. Does anyone know if this indicates an error? If so, what kind of error? Can the card be moved to the wastebin?

I had one of my M1015s die recently.  I will check to see if anything looks different from the working ones.  Going to have to look for another one next year.
