September 14, 201213 yr I just set my mind up going for a combo of M1015 and RES2SV240 for my next build. Currently all dealers here in Europe list it as out of stock. Well, since I have ordered some parts in US and await shipment, I thought to check with newegg. ..it is now listed as "discontinued" see: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816117207 ...is this true? ...if yes, what are my options?
September 14, 201213 yr There are other options but it is disappointing that newegg dropped it. Intel must have a new model in the works. Google shopping shows these as sellers. Provantage shows 11 available at the time of this post.
September 14, 201213 yr I thought there is a similar expander from Chenbro. I don't recall the details though. Maybe you can find details here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14695.msg176748#msg176748
September 14, 201213 yr Author OK, thanks for your replies so far. Looks like I have "missed" my window to shop the intel in the US (except paying extra delivery costs just for that package). I will remain calm, since I have 3 pcs M1015 on my shelves and maybe as intel releases a successor, prices will go down again.
September 16, 201213 yr I believe the RES2CV240 and RES2CV360 are the replacement for the discontinued part.
September 17, 201213 yr Author IMHO the "C" version(s) have always been there...they are for mounting inside a (rack-)case and have no PCIe connector. These also are specifically marketed as Add-Ons to Intel RAID cards, while the "S" targets "generic" HBA/RAID cards. What made the "S" version so smart was power via PCIe or 4-Pin Molex... ...I agree, that the RES2CV240 is an alternative...but also out of stock here in Europe ATM.
September 19, 201213 yr So then you're looking for something more like the Chenbro CK23601 (4 pin Molex power only however) though I don't know if that is easy to find in Europe or not.
September 19, 201213 yr Author ...they are available from some, as in not many to choose from, sources but even at higher prices than the ones from Intel.
